Strengths:
Has outstanding size with great bulk and long arms...A pretty good athlete...Does a terrific job versus the run..Good range and mobility...Has a great motor...Does a nice job in pursuit...Holds his ground at the point of attack...Quick and plays faster than he times...Can work in space...Reliable tackler...Real productive..Terror in the passing lanes...Could play in more than one scheme...Durable....Has some upside.
Weaknesses:
Does not have very good speed...Lacks a burst to close...Has to get stronger...He plays too high and with poor leverage...Doesn't protect his legs well...Not an elite edge rusher...Marginal awareness and instincts...Production fell off in '07...Can be too aggressive...Wears down easily...Struggles with double teams...Inconsistent.
Notes:
Name is pronounced "ca-LAY-is"...Has three brothers who also played football and one, Jared, is currently a Hurricane...One of the top two-way ends in the '08 Draft and could project to either a 4-3 or a 3-4 scheme..Looked like a future Top 10 pick at one point but had a sub par junior campaign and saw his stock drop...Has rare size and is an intriguing prospect but is a tad overrated...A boom or bust type but could be a steal if he can revert to his '06 form...A very poor-man's Mario Williams.
