Strengths:
Excellent throwing mechanics...Very accurate...Is just tall enough and has a solid build...Smart and understands how to run an offense...Still developing and hasn't maxed out his potential...Has a quick release...A decent athlete and moves well in the pocket...Hard worker and leader with very good intangibles...Good bloodlines.
Weaknesses:
Arm strength is just average...Durability is a concern...Has to improve his decision making...Struggles under pressure...Can be inconsistent...Won't hurt you with his feet...Does not throw a great deep ball...Was surrounded by a lot of talent...Only has 2 years of starting experience...Upside is limited...May not be starter material.
Notes:
His father, Johnny, played quarterback at Arkansas, Louisiana Tech & Mississippi St...Brother, Josh, was a quarterback for the Cleveland Browns who played at LSU for two seasons (1999-2000) following a 5-year (1994-98) baseball career in the Florida Marlins organization...Another brother, Abram, was a wide receiver at LSU (1997-1999) and Valdosta State ('01)...Played varsity football as a 7th grader and graduated from high school a year early to enroll at Southern Cal...Served as Matt Leinart's backup before finally taking over the starting job in 2006...Redshirted in 2004 due to an elbow ailment, missed spring practice in '06 with a herniated disk and missed time with a injury to a finger on his throwing hand in '07...Has a nice pedigree with a terrific make up and his physical tools are passable...Is probably more of a backup at the pro level but could develop and he has starting potential.
